In addition, we still have rapid antigen tests here at the school. If you would like some for your family, please let us know. Information Session - NME Ready-to-Learn (R2L) Schools is a universal support initiative for all Yukon students. The initiative is based on the understanding that students can only be ready to learn when they feel calm and safe. Before students can learn, we need to support their basic needs. A key part of the initiative is educator training in a model called the Neurosequential Model in Education, or NME. This model was developed by brain development and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry and is informed by more than 30 years of research. This year, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary School is receiving specific training in this approach. If you are interested in learning more about the initiative, you are invited to attend an information session on Thursday November 23, from our R2L consultants Jan Ference and Andrew McKenzie at Jack Hulland Elementary School from 6:30-7:30 pm. PD Day A reminder that there is no school for students this Friday, November 24th. Staff will be engaged in professional development activities. Congratulations

December Exams At our school, it has been common practice for some teachers to administer a part/section of their exam prior to Christmas break. For example, some teachers might dedicate some specific days during the month of December for students to work on major assignments that will be included in the exam’s final mark. Students will be made aware of the dates of such major assignments that count towards their final exam mark. The purpose of this message is to let parents/caregivers know so that they can advise administration if their child will be away from school for an extended period in December. Rock Your Mocs This week is Rock your Mocs week. On November 15th, we are encouraging everyone to wear their moccasins. This is a positive opportunity to celebrate and promote cultural pride, by encouraging Indigenous peoples to share their stories through their moccasins. Extended Absence If your child will be away for an extended period of time, please notify the office at sfacss@yukon.ca. Prayer Dear Lord, This brand new week is mine to spend, exactly as I choose. To mark with real accomplishment or to squander and misuse. To fill with love and cheerfulness, or bitterness and pain. It is my choice to make this week a total loss or gain. So counsel and direct me Lord, that when this week shall end I may rejoice at work well done, be richer by a friend. And when I sleep, may angels pause beside thy throne and tell, Thank I have spent this week, not wastefully, but well. Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Prayer Loving God, You are present to us whenever we gather as a faith community. We pray that our schools will be places where everyone feels accepted, safe, and beloved. Help our schools and our local communities be places of faith so that we can help others believe in You. Fill us with Your Spirit so that we may reflect Your light and love to each other and the whole world as one Body of Christ. We ask this of Jesus, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
