Grade 8 Orientation

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students: 
  
 Thank you for taking the time to read and review the following information about school start up.  We hope you and your family have enjoyed the summer months and are looking forward to back to school routines.  At St Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary, we are busy with final preparations to welcome students back. We will be welcoming our grade 8 students on August 22nd for an orientation day just for our incoming grade 8s. Please see the information below about grade 8 orientation.

Orientation Day for Grade 8 Students 
Each year, we host an optional orientation day for Grade 8 students the day before school begins.  This year, that afternoon is on Friday, August 22nd from 12:30pm until 2:30 p.m. Parents are welcome to come in with their child in the first part of the orientation (12:30-1:00) if they have any questions for us or the office. When you arrive on Friday, just head to the small gym! 
Students will receive their timetable/schedule on this day so that they can familiarize themselves with their schedule and teachers before the first day of school for all students on August 25th. 
During this time, students will be introduced to each other and spend some time in their homeroom classes where they will receive their finalized timetable, be issued a locker and spend some time discussing school expectations.  After this, the students will participate in a fun activity that will help them to get to know the layout of the school better.  
 
Although this is an optional activity, we have found that most students do attend and are grateful for the opportunity to settle in without any older students around. 
If your child is not able to attend orientation day, they will receive their schedules on the first day of school.
