We are saddened by the news of the death of Jean Vanier. Our school is named after the Vanier family, of which Jean was the second youngest child. After a career in the Canadian Navy, he left to study philosophy. In 1964, he invited two individuals who would have normally been institutionalized due to their disabilities to live with him. This started a movement that led to dozens more similar homes being created throughout the world. Jean Vanier was a model of service to others - especially the most vulnerable members of our community.  Comments are closed.
