Dear Vanier students and families: Here is a quick mid-week update. Return of school’s materials As the school year winds down, we would like to start collecting all school materials that have been loaned or assigned to students. These include: -Textbooks -Library books -Graphing calculators -Musical instruments -Science equipment -Technology (Mac Book Airs, keyboards, iPads) -Anything else that students are borrowing We will have tables set up at the front of the school starting tomorrow, Friday, June 5 until Wednesday, June 10 – 9 am to 4 pm – to receive these materials. If you are not able to come by the school to drop materials off, please request a pickup and we will send someone to come to your home to collect the materials: Request a pickup. Yukon Graduate Day – June 10 Wednesday June 10, 2020 has been proclaimed Yukon Graduate Day by the Commissioner of Yukon to recognize and celebrate the success and achievements of each and every Yukon graduating student. Please see the attached letter from the Minister of Education for more details. I will also officially declare this to be the day where our Class of 2020 students who are leaving our school community get to start addressing me as ‘Ryan’ rather than ‘Mr. Sikkes’! We celebrated our Class of 2020 through a photography project over the course of the weekend when we would have been hosting our Graduation Mass, Cap and Gown, Prom, and drug- and alcohol-free aftergrad. CBC Yukon featured this project in a short video you can watch by clicking HERE. Our graduates will soon be contacted to arrange an exit interview where they can give us some direct feedback on their experiences at Vanier – this is very helpful information for us and we have made changes within the school based on this information from previous graduation classes!
