St. Francis Update April 14 - 18

​Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
 
Prayer for Holy Week
O Father, most merciful, in the beginning you created us,
And by the passion of your only Son you created us anew.
Work in us now, both to will and to do what pleases you. Since we are weak and can do no good things by ourselves,
Grant us your grace and heavenly blessing, that in whatever work we engage we may do all to your honor and glory.
Keep us from sin and empower us daily to do good works,
That as long as we live in the body we may always perform service to you.
After our departure give us pardon of all our sins, and receive us to eternal life;
Through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
 
Student Led Conferences
Thank you to everyone who came to the Student Led conferences last week. It was great to see students sharing and discussing their learning with their parents and enjoying a snack as they visited each class. If you were not able to make it, the report card has been sent home in the mail. Only six more weeks until review-week and exams! 
 
Yearbooks
The SFA Yearbook 2025 will be on sale during April 1st to April 28th. After that, books will no longer be purchasable - reserve your copy today! 40$ a book and will arrive in the fall at St. Francis. Parent Workshop 
The Family Resource Unit will be facilitating workshops at the NVD space in April, May and June. All parents and caregivers are welcome; registration is required for each session and a light dinner will be provided. Please click here for more information.
 
OPI Assessment
On April 30 and May 1st, the Oral Proficiency Interview will take place. The OPI is a one-on-one interview designed to assess oral proficiency in a second language. The French Programs branch at Yukon Education uses the data collected from OPI assessments to monitor and improve French Immersion and Intensive French programs in the Yukon. It is also an opportunity for all to celebrate Yukon students’ ability to converse in French. Please click here for more information (scroll down).
 
School Council Secretary-Treasurer 
St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary School Council is seeking a Secretary-Treasurer to assist this council with its duties.  The Secretary-Treasurer will: 

• ensure notifications of special meetings are sent out or posted; 
• record minutes of all meetings and post approved minutes to the school website; 
• ensure the safekeeping of all documents and financial records of the School Council; 
• ensure all funds of the School Council are properly accounted for; 
• disperse funds as authorized by the School Council; report on all receipts and disbursements at meetings; and prepare the financial records and books for annual audit.  

The position usually requires 4-5 hours per month of time and includes a stipend of $150/month.  Applicants do not have to meet the requirements of electors (ie., Canadian citizenship, over 18, and resident in the attendance area) to serve in this position.  While not serving as a voting member of the council, the secretary-treasurer is able to participate and contribute to discussions at council meetings.
