Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
The world around us is full of renewal as a warming creation dissolves the winter’s hard cold and breathes spring to life. This past Saturday was Earth Day 2023 whose mission is to build the world’s largest environmental movement to drive transformative change for people and planet. This kind of movement makes real the ongoing power of the Resurrection - making things new again and it is our responsibility to do what we can. In the beauty of the earth, we can see reflections of the beauty of God. Prayer Open our eyes, Open our ears, To the lesson of creation so that we may learn: The joy of flowers dancing in the April sun; The strength of a blade of grass pushing through earth; The stillness of a northern lake reflecting a full moon; The insistence of young birds yearning to live; And to fly … May the sunlight and the rain be reminders that You are at work renewing the earth. As a God of renewal, You are ever at work in our lives, too. Open our eyes to the needed changes in our lives this Spring. Awaken us to new life and perspective, for this we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. Territorial Skills Competition Congratulations to the St. Francis students who competed in last weeks Territorial Skills competition. Each student brought home a medal - Baking Silver Medal, Welding Silver Medal and Carpentry Gold Medal. All three competitors worked extremely hard to achieve these stellar results! Professional Development Day There is no school for students on Monday May 1st due to a Professional Development Day for all staff. Student Led Conferences Thank you to everyone who came out to the Student Led conferences last week. It was great to see students sharing and discussing their learning with their parents, and enjoying a cookie as they visited each class. Only six more weeks until review week and exams! Free Research Databases, Books, French Books, Comics, Graphic Novels, Audio Books All For YOU! Students have access to free, excellent research databases to use anytime at home or school with their Rapid Identity credentials: student [email protected] and a password. If a password reset is required, contact [email protected]. When logged into Rapid ID, go to the "digital resources" tile. Rapid ID - Office 365 - allows students home access to documents and projects that they have worked on at school. Ensure that you are logged into your account so that your work is saved. Lastly, Rapid ID gives students a chance to find great e-books, comic books, graphic novels, picture books, French books, magazine and audio books for all grade levels through the SORA app. Features include: a built-in e-book reader, an audiobook player, a leveled reading collection, and a running tally of time spent reading and numbers of books read.
