Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Prayer Lord, we thank you for the many colours, cultures, and customs that we share in this world. In our differences, unite us by your love. Enable us to act together to uphold life and to make this world a just and peaceful household for all humanity. Today we ask you: O God, hear our prayer and grant us your peace. Amen Christian Unity The traditional date for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 18-25. The octave (eight days) has been celebrated continuously since 1894, but was a dream of many Christian leaders since the early years of the 19th century. This week we will celebrate Christian Unity when we gather for our liturgy on Wednesday. Grad We are looking for Grade 11 students and parents to help with Grad! Traditionally, the Grad Mass is followed by a reception with some light snacks and beverages. This is usually hosted by students in grade 11 with the help of their parents. We are also looking to create a registered St. Francis Grad society to help aid in fundraising efforts. This will benefit next year's grad class, so we would like some of this year's grade 11 parents to help take the lead on this. If you can assist with either of these efforts, please email [email protected] Wood Street The applications for Wood Street Centre programs are due: Grade 11/12 January 25, 2023 http://woodstreetcentre.yukonschools.ca/applications.html If you need any assistance or information regarding the application/process, please contact Kris Bruneau at 867-667-8413 or [email protected]. Arctic Winter Games There is an external credit form that students can pick up in the office to earn up to 4 credits for participating. Please notify the office and teacher if your student is going to be absent from class for the AWG. Data Privacy Week The Yukon Information and Privacy Commissioner invites parents and educators to use materials on the website https://www.yukonombudsman.ca/yukon-information-and-privacy-commissioner/youth/teaching-tools to discuss digital literacy and online privacy. This link has a webcast, graphic novel, discussion guide and blog to assist families in leading a ‘family tech talk’ with youth about how they can protect themselves when they’re spending time online. Cafeteria We are moving towards a cashless cafeteria. Please purchase punch cards for $20 each, through the office for use in the cafeteria. You may purchase the punch cards with cash at the office or send an e-transfer to [email protected]. Menu options for week of January 23-27
