St. Francis Weekly Email May 27-31

5/28/2024

Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,

To recognize Jesus in the world, people need to see him through us and our words and actions.  We need to reflect on what it means to be cooperative contributors to our communities. This means, that we are helpful in our homes, friendships, classrooms, teams, and with other groups working for worthy causes.

Let us pray:
God, your Gospel of Life calls us to work
in communion with one another
as we help build Your Kingdom.
Lord, help us to find meaning and dignity in the works we do.
Open our ears to hear your voice clearly
Open our eyes to see your beauty in all
Open our minds so our understanding
may break down walls of fear and prejudice.
Bless our schools and communities
as places of friendship
as places of belonging
and as places of welcome
where everyone feels safe
where everyone has a place
where all are united in You, dear God.
As members of one family in Jesus we continue our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

SkillsCanada
The Territorial Skills Competition that took place on May 2, 2024 also served as a qualifier for the National Skills Competition, as a result Team Yukon has competitors participating in Nationals, in many different trade areas! The team is made up of high school students, and apprentices, with some folks just starting their trade this year and others who have been involved for years. St. Francis has six students who are competing. If you would like to watch the live stream of the competition, it will be on the Skills Canada YouTube channel May 30 and 31 live from Québec, QC.

Letter to Young People
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) published a Pastoral Letter to Young People which was inspired by Pope Francis’ Post-Synodal Exhortation to Young People, Christus vivit. We are pleased to let you know that there is now available a User's Guide to help facilitate reflection on this pastoral letter.

The CCCB’s Pastoral Letter to Young People invites young Catholics in Canada to live their faith in an extraordinary way, encouraging them to strive toward holiness, and assuring them of the steadfast support and accompaniment of their Bishops along their individual journeys of faith.
You can find both the Pastoral Letter and the new User Guide in English and in French, along with suggested activities, on the CCCB webpage at https://www.cccb.ca/faith-moral-issues/family-and-life/documents-activities-proposed-cccb/pastoral-letter-to-young-people/

**Eight more days of class – Exam Week is June 10th to 13th**

Please do not hesitate to call the school at 667-5901 if you have any questions or concerns.

Blessings,
The St. Francis of Assisi Admin Team,
