Assessments There will be benchmark assessments on Tuesday of this week and next for grades 8 and 9 students. Survey Students will be asked to complete a wellness survey on Thursday. This survey is for staff to gather the opinions of students on various aspects of school services. Vision Screening On Thursday and Friday, we will be doing vision screening with our Grade 8 students, and some new students. A letter will be sent home if follow-up with an optometrist is recommended. Confirmation A reminder to families of students who would like to take part in Confirmation preparation. The classes start Monday, October 16th in the CYO Hall at 6:30 pm. The student books, parent guides and registration forms will be available for those who need them. YFNED Advocate Yukon First Nation Education Advocates work to increase a sense of belonging, self-respect, and pride in heritage for all Indigenous students. They provide support, guidance, and advocacy to deliver culturally inclusive programming within schools, and work with the school to improve the academic achievement of Indigenous students. This year we are pleased to welcome Aurora Knutson as the First Nation Advocate here at St. Francis. Aurora is excited to work closely with school staff, knowledge holders, Elders and youth to advocate for student supports and place a strong focus on cultural programming and land-based learning.
